ABOUT ME

An experienced integrative Cognitive Behaviour Therapist based in South London.

Prior to retraining as a therapist, I worked for many years in various roles within the private sector.  A series of life changing events led me to retrain and follow my passion - helping people.  I have a good understanding of the emotional difficulties individual's and couple's can face and how these difficulties can impact daily living.  I believe everyone should have the chance to live their best life therefore this is the main focus of my work.

I am experienced working with individuals with psychological difficulties including depression, anxiety conditions (social anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias), low self-esteem, relationship issues, stress, grief and loss, as well as other difficulties.  I have worked successfully with clients from different backgrounds, cultures and religions, helping to relieve problems in an empathetic, compassionate and supportive way.

As a therapist, I see clients as unique and value their experiences.  I believe you are an expert in your own life and with my help we can work on making sure you are better equipped to deal with any obstacles life may throw at you.  Therapy sessions are tailored to each individual.

Couple/Relationship Therapy

Is your relationship in need of a health check? Are you finding communication in your relationship is a problem that you would like to find solutions to? Are you finding yourself questioning what the future holds for your relationship?

Relationships can be tricky to navigate and all too quickly we can fall into patterns of thinking and behaving that are not helpful for a healthy and happy relationship. Demands and pressures of life mean we place less importance on our relationship and more importance on things elsewhere. However, we still have an expectation that our relationships will be happy, fulfilling and will stand the test of time. We can sometimes forget to ‘check in’ on how the relationship is doing and in turn we drift apart or drift further into conflict.

Whatever your relationship i.e. family, siblings, friends, couples, LGBTQI+, throuple, polyamorous, other, I can hold a space for you so that you feel heard, seen and can learn to work on having your needs met so that your relationship reaps the benefits. Working together we will explore and identify how your individual differences, values and needs in your relationship may differ and I will help you work on reducing conflict, improve communication, move towards better connectedness and intimacy so that together you will have the right tools to help you navigate the complexities of your relationship in our modern world.

After completing a Psychology Degree at Birkbeck University, I went on to train as a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist with the College of Cognitive Behaviour Therapies.

In addition to my qualifications, I am committed to continued personal and professional development and regularly attend workshops and courses to continually bring enrichment to my practice.

HOW CAN I HELP?

With You Every Step of the Way

An integrative psychotherapist, specialising in one of the main pillars of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) known as Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT).  Working collaboratively I will help you to identify stressors and learn how to separate the stories you tell yourself from those that are genuine, find healthier coping strategies, and learn new skills and techniques on how to manage changes in your life effectively.  By combining a variety of therapeutic approaches, I will help you to identify, challenge and change the unhelpful thoughts and behaviours you may have and I will support you to make positive and lasting changes in your life.

Working together in a non-judgemental, safe and supportive space, a variety of therapeutic approaches will be combined to help you learn new skills and tools which will ultimately enable you to become your own therapist.

Therapy sessions are designed to help you highlight any unhelpful thinking, attitudes or personal rules you have, that may be keeping you 'stuck', causing you personal distress or that may be leaving you feeling unfulfilled in your life.

TREATMENT

Therapy is not always a linear process and therapeutic interventions can sometimes feel difficult and challenging.  This forms part of the work.  In order to help you with this change I use the following therapeutic approaches:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

A talking therapy based on the concept that our thoughts, feelings, actions and physical sensations are interconnected and that negative thoughts and feelings can keep us 'stuck' in a negative cycle.   Through CBT, specifically Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), you will learn to change negative thinking patterns to ones which will be more helpful towards achieving a greater level of happiness.   It is most commonly used to treat anxiety disorders and depression but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.

ACT Therapy

A type of therapy that encourages you to accept your thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them.  By using mindfulness and behaviour change strategies, ACT helps you to live in line with your values and what is important to you. It works on reducing the impact of negative thoughts and feelings by promoting a more open, accepting, and proactive approach to life's challenges.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness can be described as knowing what is going on internally and externally with ourselves, each and every moment.  It is about reconnecting with ourselves and our lives so that we can untangle any unhelpful patterns of stress and/or confusion we may encounter, which will help us engage with and enjoy our life right here and now, as it is happening.
